What you can see and do in Molina de Aragón

Molina de Aragón is one of the essential places to see on the Way of El Cid, and it is well worth stopping and spending the day there. The gateway between Castile and Aragon, it is also the access point to the Natural Park of the Upper Tagus.

Molina is a good town to walk around. It is a first-class historical-artistic centre with an outstanding fortress (the medieval castle, the Tower of Aragon, the Tower of Medina and the walls). A stroll around the town takes us through evocative alleys of the Jewish and Muslim districts; with walled doorways, hidden squares, mansions like that of the Viceroy of Molina, numerous houses with coats of arms and a thousand secret corners. Above all the Romanesque-Gothic churches of Santa Clara (13th century) and St Martin (13th-14th centuries), the Gothic St Peter’s Church and the old bridge over the River Gallo, another symbol of the town.

You also should not miss

  • In addition to visiting the castle and an unhurried stroll through the streets, from Molina you can also take several scenic routes towards the Natural Park of the Upper Tagus. Only 11km away, following the Way of El Cid, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of La Hoz is located in a fabulous setting of limestone walls hollowed out by the River Gallo, close to Ventosa in the municipality of Corduente.
