BU 911 between Santo Domingo de Silos and Espinosa de Cervera

Tunnel of La Yecla. Santo Domingo de Silos, Burgos / ALC

This scenic road starts in the town of Santo Domingo de Silos, where the monastery is world-famous for its Romanesque cloisters, and goes through the natural area of the Arlanza juniper forest, with a stop in La Yecla, a narrow limestone gorge with high walls where large numbers of birds of prey nest.

The road finishes, after a gentle downhill section, in Espinosa de Cervera, a small village with a good example of a rural Romanesque church. For some scholars, Espinosa was one of the places chosen by El Cid for a camp on his way into exile. The road has a good surface and receives little traffic.

Distance: 10km.
